Office Administration and Volunteer Manager

The Holocaust Centre of New Zealand is the country's leading voluntary organisation which works in the fields of Holocaust education, remembrance, and human rights. 

We seek a highly competent Office Administration and Volunteer Manager to run our daily operations. This is a part-time position (30 hours per week with possibility of extending to 40 hours) which would suit a confident, competent person with strong interpersonal and organisational skills, experienced in independently managing a small office and staff. 

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Day to day running of our office, accounts, and volunteers
  • Maintaining the calendar, good records and filing systems; both computer and paper records.
  • Provide support to the Director, Education Director and Board
  • Making sure that volunteers have tasks to complete that are commensurate with their areas of expertise, and staffing the day to day running of the centre.
  • Dealing with donations – recording them, receipting and acknowledging.
  • Liaising with schools and other community organisations, about visits, programmes and events.
  • Welcoming casual and group visitors to the centre

Skills and experience: 

  • Excellent computing skills including good knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Google Docs, is essential. A knowledge of Xero accounting package would also be useful although on-site training will be provided.
  • Experience in the voluntary sector would be useful as would knowledge of the Holocaust.
  • Able to multi-task, especially in a dynamic environment
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • A NZ resident or holder of a NZ work visa and very good command of written and spoken English are essential requirements.
  • Committed to spending at least 2 years in the position.
